Cladding Panels Fire Retrofit

Firefree Coatings (“Firefree”) has successfully completed testing on Firefree’s patented Cladding Retrofit system for aluminum combustible cladding panels. The testing (under ASTM 3408), involving extreme fire, validated Firefree 88’s ability to protect aluminum combustible cladding from the fires that have devastated many high rise buildings worldwide.  The Firefree system can be used to simply retrofit the panels, without having to remove and replace such panels. This solution results in saving enormous amounts of labor and costs in addition to saving significant amounts of time. Furthermore, this solution can be implemented while the occupants remain in the building.

Firefree is the leading developer of cost-efficient intumescent fire retardant and fire resistant technologies that help prevent the spread of fire, smoke and toxic gases during a fire, thus giving occupants extra time to evacuate and limit the destruction of property.  Ff88 is tested at third party accredited, International Accreditation Service (IAS), fire testing laboratories and are listed/inspected by ICC ES, FM Approvals. Firefree is a member of NFPA, ICC-ES and ASTM E-05 Committees.

Wine Country Wildfires Protection

Firefree Coatings (“Firefree”) has seen a significant increase in the use of its intumescent fire protective coatings by wineries in the wine country of Napa and Sonoma. In these high fire risks environments, Firefree has provided cost efficient fire protection solutions to production facilities, tasting rooms, storage facilities and residential buildings. These projects included a wide range of fire protection measures, from wildfires protection per WUI standards to fire resistant ratings of up to two hours per ASTM E 119 on a wide variety of substrates such as wood, thin gage metal, stucco, Hardie Board, cement based products, etc.. .

These are successful uses of Firefree’s solutions provided by Firefree products pursuant to (i) the Wildland Urban Interface (“WUI”), as prescribed in the California Building Standards Code Section 704A (including) the ASTM E2768-30 for ignition resistance, ASTM E84 30 Minute Extended, and ASTM D 2898 method B for weatherization), and (ii) fire resistant standards such as California Building Code (CBC), SFM 12-7A-3 (ASTM E 2957) and ASTM E 119.

Wildfires Eaves and Soffits Testing

Firefree Coatings (“Firefree”) has tested its Firefree Exterior System to comply with California Building Code (CBC), SFM 12-7A-3 conditions in accordance with ASTM E 2957 for fire resistance to wildfire flame penetration of eaves, soffits and ignition-resistant materials to other assembly projections including (deck structures, cantilevers…).
Success in this severe test, involving temperatures up to 1700 F (920 C), is a critical advance in wildfire protection as in many cases fire destruction happens when the flames go up the sidings, go to the eaves with maximum intensity and move into the attics.

This is another layer in the Wildfire protection provided by the Firefree Exterior System, which is the only coating system that meets all the fire and weatherization standards required by the Wildland Urban Interface (“WUI”), as prescribed in the California Building Standards Code Section 704A. These standards include (i) the ASTM E2768-30 for ignition resistance (ASTM E84 30 Minute Extended), and (ii) the ASTM D2898 method B for weatherization.
