Firefree 88 can add significant protection to structures faced with wildfires.

Company continues to define new category for fireproofing.

San Rafael (October 31, 2003) ‚ International Fire Resistant Systems Inc., a leading developer of fire-resistant technologies that protect human lives and property from fire, has today announced that it has committed to provide its commercial-grade FF88 fire resistant coating to residents of Ventura, San Diego, and San Bernardino Counties affected by the California fires at discounted rates.

Wildfires, whether burning trees or bush, generate tremendous heat, move rapidly and burn quickly. As a result homes and other structures caught in wildfires have a severe fire exposure for about 15 minutes. During this time frame the extreme temperature exposure can cause fire combustion of the home or structure. After that short but intense period, the fire will have moved on and the surrounding materials, which became fuel to the fire, will have burnt out.

Firefree 88 is a water-based, intumescent coating that has proven to withstand extreme temperatures (in excess of 2000F degrees) for an extended time (over two hours). FF88 is the first, fully tested, coating to bring a true fire barrier to a wide variety of exterior materials including wood, concrete, aluminum and composite materials. As a result, FF88 has the ability to act as a protective coating that can withstand the intense fire exposure of a wildfire and thus assists the structure in keeping its integrity beyond the critical period. FF88 is non toxic, environmentally friendly and applies easily as a paint.
